Dear Alex--Half a world away, working my way through mountains of research reports to be graded, preparing for this afternoon's GC-Mass Spectrometry lab, your stories, poetry and the travel log of your companions brings me back to earth as I remember other matters of importance such as family, friends, and neighbors abroad. It is often too easy to lose perspective in the details of daily work. A view from a mountain is often essential spiritual balm. Peace be with you, your colleagues, and hosts.--Love-Dad

Shopping in S Korea...I am green with envy. It does look much like the Portland Saturday market, and I am sure you found some great buys! How nice to have someone with you to point out the authentic finds:)
Can hardly wait to see you next week.

I'm so glad you finally have home-stays. That adds so much to the experience of being in Korea. Sorry to hear you were sick. If my count is correct, that means everyone has been sick at least once. One-on-one communication is the key. Go Team Korea. Go jingiban.

Alex,
Greetings my friend,
The photos bring floods of splintered memories back to me. I love them...I miss that country so., Thanks for including me on your dis.list. Your experience with the Koan given by the High Priest reminded me of this poem;
"I can understand another soul by transforming my own, as one person transforms his hand by placing it in another's."
                                                               ~Paul Eluard
A million thanks, and much love,
Kenya
